The progress on the platform continued in the new year from where it was left off in 2014, with the next task being to design, manufacture and install a set of brackets that will support the front top edge of the plaftorm.
The brackets will support railway sleepers, which in turn will take the edging stones.
There are two types of bracket designed, one wich is designed to be bolted onto holes already on the concrete sleepers within the wall (the original purpouse of these holes were to fix third rail chairs to the sleeper), and the other designed to be welded directly to the upright steels.
Above are photos of the bracket type which bolts into the concrete sleepers. These brackets were fabricated by Enfys Engineering, Dolgarrog.
Also over the past month, we have recieved a grant from RWE Energy, the operators of Dolgarrog Powerstation. These grants are available for charities, community and voluntary groups to apply for, with priority given to organisations in the immediate vicinity of the Power Station. The fabrication of these brackets has been partly funded by this grant.
